Exciting fare ahead with Championship in the premium class (Formula Rolon Chevrolet) wide open

Gaurav Dalal of Team Red Rooster Racing in the lead

The infant amongst the racing teams, Team Red Rooster is well set to capture glory this weekend as the countdown for the national championship titles have begun with the 6th and final round of the 11th edition of the JK Tyre National Racing Championship getting underway at the Madras Motor Race Track in Irrungattukottai. Leading the charge for this recently formed team are two experienced heads Gaurav Dalal and Sarosh Hataria who now are placed first and third in the championship standings.

The finals of the endurance race will be held on Saturday, 4th October. This will be followed by one race each in the Group A super bike series, Race Star and Super Saloon car classes. The formula car races and Group A bike race will ensue on Sunday, 5th October. This weekend will also feature one additional race in the Formula Rolon Chevrolet class to make up for the races of Round 3 which were not held due to incessant rains.

The JK Tyre National Enduro will be run with Formula LGB Hyundai vehicles. The race will run for duration of 60 minutes with two drivers per car where each driver can drive not more than 15 minutes at a stretch. The top contenders are the duo of Karthik Shankar and Narain Shankar from Team Rams Racing and Sudanand and Prithveen from Team WSRF.

Championship points position at the end of Round 5

The championship lead in the Formula Rolon Chevrolet class has seen the leading changing hands quite often. However at the end of the last two rounds it has been Gaurav Dalal of Team Red Rooster Racing who has held the lead. Gaurav who led by a slender margin of 3 points at the end of Round 4 came up with 2 podium finishes in Round 5 helping him build up a lead of 18 points over his nearest rival Saahil Shelar of Team Speed NK Racing. Gaurav currently has a tally of 58 points while Saahil has 40 points. In third place is Gauravs team mate Sarosh Hataria with 36 points. A couple of good performances from Gaurav in the final round will ensure him the coveted National Championship title. Another good effort from Sarosh could catapult him to second place. Team Red Rooster leads in the Formula Rolon Chevrolet class team championship having notched up 101 points. In second and third places are Team Speed NK Racing and Team Prime Racing with 88 and 55 points respectively.

With Saran Vikram of Team WSRF with Leela and Karthik Shankar of Team TVS Girling having sealed the championship title and runner up position with 102 and 70 points respectively in the Formula LGB Swift class, the focus will be on the battle for the third place. It promises to be a interesting three way tussle between Sudanand Rajan of Team WSRF with Leela with 42 points, team mate Prithveen Rajan with 36 points and Rayomand Banajee of Team Amaron with Meco with 36 points. Team WSRF with Leela heads the table in the Formula LGB Swift class with 120 points followed by Team TVS Girling with 118 points and Team Amaron with 13 points.
